Hello, World

An introduction to who I am, why I'm starting this blog, and what you can expect.
Welcome, and thanks for dropping by.
I’m Travis Bubb — a software engineer with a focus on backend systems, distributed architectures, and low-level programming. By day, I work professionally on event-driven systems and APIs. By night (and sometimes early morning), I work on passion projects like AetherOS, my own from-scratch operating system written in C, and a distributed key-value store in Rust. I also run a side project called Worshiply, a lightweight church management platform aimed at helping small congregations stay organized.
Why a Blog?
There’s something powerful about writing down what you’re learning. It sharpens thinking, documents progress, and occasionally helps someone else out along the way. This blog is my attempt at that — a space to reflect, explore, and share ideas as I go deeper into systems and embedded development.
What to Expect
At the moment, this blog doesn’t follow a strict format. I plan to post about:
- Building an OS from scratch (and all the gritty details)
- Rust-based systems development
- Designing a distributed key-value store
- Exploring embedded systems and hardware experiments
- Random tangents into tooling, performance, and software engineering philosophy
In short: expect technical deep dives, project breakdowns, and lessons learned along the way.
Let’s See Where This Goes
This isn’t meant to be polished or perfect — it’s meant to be honest and helpful. If any of this resonates with you, feel free to connect via GitHub or LinkedIn. I’m always open to feedback, collaboration, or a good conversation.
Here’s to what comes next.
